Hello from the inside: Curated online exhibition

Blursday, May 6; forty days into nights. The lockdown continues as time seems to stand still. In hindsight what our vision of 2020 will be remains to be seen; for the moment the path ahead is unclear. What is certain is that these are unprecedented times. People, communities and governments across the globe are being shaken, but also hopefully stirred to see our world, its peoples and creatures in a new light. Looking back, we may say ‘it was the best of times, it was the worst of times’ but no doubt we can all agree that it is time to ‘reset’.

Barnard is pleased to present “Hello from the inside” - the first in an ongoing series of online exhibitions. A parody of the famous song by British singer-songwriter Adele, this selection of works by the gallery’s roster of artists explores notions of interiority both literally and metaphorically. In our current state of confinement, the exhibition effectively presents a ‘room with a view’ – the former actual or symbolic, the latter both real and imagined as we contemplate ‘the other side’.

"Hello from th Inside" include works from Dirk Salz, Lien Botha, Richrd Mudariki, Tom Cullberg, Jaco van Schalkwyk, MJ Lourens, Katherine Spindler, Alexia Vogel, Sarah Biggs, Robyn Penn and Virginia MacKenny.
